About me

My name is Tom Hogan, but I’m sure you got that from the name in the top left.

Outside of work, I like to answer the phone saying ‘go for Tom,’ drink orange wine, and eat potato bake.

I soundtrack my day with Hamish & Andy, Shameless, or some hard house music. Honestly, anything really. I love to listen.

I studied psychology and have always had an interest in mental health, which has helped me understand human behaviour and empathy. Two very important things in this industry.

I’m currently working at VML Melbourne as a copywriter in the WPP Ford team. However, as an avid photographer, I enjoy partaking in stills treatments and basic level art direction tasks. Before my current role, I was an account executive on the Australian Defence Force and Victoria Big Build accounts. So my ad life has been pretty damn good. Big boats, jet planes and, now, fast cars.

But, seriously, I’m not just a car guy.

“I’ve been around agencies a long time and my overarching thesis is that agencies are transactional … without fraternity. Fraternity is built in many ways, but stuff like this can index pretty high on impact! So just wanted to say nice one, it’s great you are so invested in the agency.”

Chris, Creative Director. Copy School Feedback.

“What I thought was more interesting, was your messages to the speakers. They were absolutely spot on. Not too sucky or cringey, but full of gratitude and genuine thanks. That’s more important than anything else. Writing for purpose. Making a point. That’s being a copywriter.
